This client was especially rewarding to work with. They had an existing relationship with my firm before my time and were coming back for a renovation/addition project. This client is based in the Bettendorf, IA area. Their students come from a number of other high schools in the area who are struggling to succeed in the typical public education environment. Edison provides a non-traditional learning environment designed to accommodate students who may not thrive in conventional high school settings. These alternative schools often cater to students with diverse needs, offering flexible programs and personalized instruction to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. To be able to provide a space that was flexible and accommodating to students who were struggling was such a privilege.

Understanding that these students were being uprooted from their typical environment, we wanted to show that this was a transitional and transformative space. This school is an opportunity for them to get individual attention and find a path that allows them to succeed in whatever they choose. They are shifting focus, priorities, paths, and the environment can support them in that.
